2018 MAKEUP FAVES
Updated: Dec 28, 2018
I've tested and used SO many beauty products this year (I've seriously got a problem LOL) and I've compiled a list of my 5 favourite products of 2018. P.S This was actually so tough to narrow down.
1. STILA Glitter & Glow Liquid Eyeshadow
This is my number 1 favourite product of the year. You can see clearly see that by the above image which shows my (not so little) collection. I'm a big glitter fan and previously, I used loose glitter and glitter glue for my looks but I now use product from Stila instead. This product has a liquid formula, is super pigmented and when applied dries down on the eye. This is therefore way less messy than using loose glitter. Some of my favourite shades from this range include; Diamond Dust, Smoky Storm and Kitten Karma.
2. 'Updated' Linespring Lashes
These lashes have become an absolute staple of mine. I've been wearing them all year and restocked thrice! The lashes are beautiful, thick (but not too thick) and have that gorgeous flare out curl at the end which I absolutely love. I've used gotten so many compliments when wearing these lashes and I get a solid 30 or so uses out of it if I take care of it well.
3. Laura Mercier Translucent Powder
If theres's one product I'm glad I switched to this year, its the Laura Mercier translucent powder. I previously used the Yardley Absolute Translucent Powder (still a good product if you're on a budget and looking for a powder on a budget - that also does the trick). The Yardley Translucent powder has a pink colour to it and sometimes I used to experience flashback when using it but it did the trick when I couldn't afford a better brand and I still recommend it to those looking to purchase a drugstore powder. The Laura Mercier Translucent Powder however, changed my makeup game DRAMATICALLY. The powder is fine, doesn't give me flashback and sets my foundation in such a way that it smoothens everything out (without the cake) and keeps my makeup lasting for so much longer. This is 101% a product I will continue to splurge on. In South Africa, you can purchase this from @muse.sa on Instagram.
4. Makeup Revolution Concealer
Makeup Revolution hit SA Clicks stores a few months back and I tested out SO many of their products. Their brand as a whole is really affordable with mostly good quality products (their matte eyeshadows are a bit shady) but their concealer is their one product I absolutely love. The design of the product as well as formula closely resembles that of the TARTE Shape Tape and for the price (R104,95), is so worth it. I use the shade C7 and to this day still love it!
5. Urban Decay 'Born To Run' Eyeshadow Palette
If you're looking for a super versatile eyeshadow palette, this one is amazing. This palette contains 21 colours of both matte and shimmer shadows and retails for R800, which comes to around R38 per shadow. I really enjoy this palette because of its wide colour selection, the packaging is sturdy and feels like quality (which is something I love when it comes to product packaging) and the shadows are really pigmented without the fallout. One downside is that I feel like a few of the colours should have been replaced. For example, theres a beautiful burnt orange colour (BAJA) and a beautiful brown colour (BUFF) but I feel like there needed to be a transition colour which is in between the two colours. If they added a yellow and a red, this would have been my ultimate palette but shem, I'm really asking for a lot. This palette really is one of Urban Decay's best so it still makes my top 5.
